Candy Hearts 2026
Hello! This is my first time signing up for Candy Hearts and I'm really excited to participate!
General likes: bittersweet and/or ambivalent feelings; conflict; angst and tragedy (both with happy endings/catharsis and without); humor; canon-typical violence and darker themes; sexual tension, resolved or unresolved; age differences; porn/smut involving power dynamics and light BDSM overtones, including in relationships of existing inequality; canon divergences, including fix-its and sort-of-fix-its for character deaths; grief and hauntings (psychological or literal); forced teamwork & proximity tropes; unexpected moments of tenderness.
General DNWs: noncon within a requested ship; setting AUs
Vinland Saga
Askeladd/Thorfinn: I will ship them in hell. I love the fucked-up adversarial tenderness and intimacy of their relationship that emerges over time and against both their wills, the mentor/student and guardian/ward elements (and yes, the emotional daddy stuff too, RIP), the way that Askeladd is brusquely and often cruelly and deniably protective of Thorfinn and the way that Thorfinn is, in his own resistant way, also loyal to and protective of Askeladd. I love Askeladd's pride and self-hatred and Thorfinn's defiance and protection of his own dignity. I'd be up for something that either takes place during the later canon timeline with romantic undertones or something explicitly romantic in an Askeladd-lives AU where Thorfinn has a little time to grow up, both literally and emotionally. The tragic fucked-upness of their relationship in canon appeals to me; I'd also be perfectly happy to see them, uh, a little happier, whatever that takes. Anything from G to T is great here (during canon timeline) or G to E (if postcanon with slightly older Thorfinn)!
Fandom-specific DNWs: Sex involving canon-timeline under-17 Thorfinn
The Magnus Archives
Elias/Gertrude: They have so much bitter history! Elias and Gertrude are essentially like a decades-long, dysfunctional, constantly-at-war marriage to me. I love everything that's implied about their time together: the ongoing and sometimes passive-aggressive power struggle; Jonah's hope (overt or otherwise) that she'll join him in his cult and his mission as vs. her own unhappy compromised idealism and determination to save the world, which he obviously respects in his own way; the probable telepathic link!; the dignity and tension (and snark) in the way they interact. I'd love to read anything set during their long time together, or any canon-divergence AU, including various Gertrude-lives scenarios, whether or not this changes anything about the terrible decisionmaking from Elias. Anything from G to E is welcome here!
Elias/Peter: Speaking of people with history! Hard to get more unstoppable force/immovable object here, or rather, ultimate control freak/obstinate free spirit than Jonah Magnus and Peter Lukas. I love Elias and Peter's relationship and the superficial lightness and chumminess of it as a veneer over a great deal of tension, bitterness, and vying for freedom (if you're Peter) and control (if you're Elias). What is with Elias and people who are trying to save the world? That's probably a self-answering question. Anyway, I love the snark and absurdity here, the darkness, the fundamental amorality of both people involved—Peter's sincere attachment to humanity at large sitting side by side with his total apathy to the fate of any individual person. Happy to read something set at any point in their relationship, including canon-divergences and fix-its and quasi-fix-its. Anything from G to E is welcome here!
Fandom-specific DNWs: bottom/sexually submissive Elias
Fate/Zero
Iskandar/Waver: These two embody so much of what I enjoy about Fate/Zero and all the clash and sometimes reconciliation of opposites in it: ancient and modern, bold and fearful, sincere and cynical, doing and thinking, and how their relationship kind of collapses all these distinctions, particularly by what it changes in Waver and what it brings out in him, but also what he comes to understand about Iskandar. I love the devotion and fealty Waver comes to have for Iskandar, including the way it's both purposely anachronistic—adopting Iskandar's world and values as his own—and also kind of ritually submissive. And I just enjoy the humor and absurdity of their relationship: the banter, the mundane situations, Waver's complaints and sarcasm and problem-solving, Iskandar's boundless optimism and ambition. I'm up for both fix-its & happy endings here as well as post-canon grief/devotion from Waver. Anything from G to E is welcome here!
Fandom-specific DNWs: heavy focus on other Fate properties like F/SN or El-Melloi Case Files
The Terror
Francis Crozier/James Fitzjames: They have SUCH chemistry at every stage of their relationship, from the antagonism and passive-aggressive power struggle—the class baggage, so multilayered for each of them! The tug-of-war over Sir John's favor! The defensiveness and pride over each of their approaches to command and authority!—to the growing friendship, intimacy, and trust between them. James is so proud and insecure, but also brave and sincere in a way that Francis comes to understand more than he himself does; and Francis is so guarded, defensive, and self-sabotaging, RIP, but so passionate and determined. I love both humor and tragedy here, and tragedy is unavoidable in this case: though this pairing is one where I'd be, TBH, most happy for fix-it where James lives, even if it's not fix-it for a million other things (others' deaths, the overall trauma of the experience); I love imperfect-coping-after-loss. Anything from G to E is welcome here!
Fandom-specific DNWs: specific verbalized modern gender headcanons for James (ambiguity/general genderqueerness is fine); James/Sir John or Francis/Sir John as romantic or sexual dynamics
